T's of my Own Creation

Monday, May 7, 2012

I'm a T-Shirt and jeans guy. I have polo's, sweaters, hoodies, and collared shirts but I feel the most comfortable wearing T's and Jeans. Besides print-less undershirts I don't buy any of my T's at the store. I truly believe T-shirts are a great way of expressing oneself.

For a small time I was into silk screening my own, but the cost and clean-up was a nightmare. Now there's services all over the web offering Direct to Garment Printing. Imagine an inkjet printer that printed on t-shirts instead of paper and you get the idea.

Although there are quite a few out there, in my opinion mysoti.com is the best, and cafepress.com is the worst. Similar sites but a world of differences as far as quality and price go.

My storefront is finally set up so shop away. Your helping a good cause, proceeds go to a starving artist named Chris ;p

Below are a couple of designs I made for this blog and my film site ElectroShclock.com. I have a couple of other designs I'm working on, one for LuridLit so I can have my blog trilogy collection. I'll post that one once it's finished.

My Post Apocalyptic Van

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

I love Post Apocalyptic movies, with the Mad Max trilogy being high on the list. One aspect I love about these movies are the funky vehicles the survivors outfit for the wasteland. What started as an art project I got some of my artist friends to help me with rendering my van with women posing with it, took an entirely different direction when one of them sent me a quick sketch of my van Post Apocalyptic style.

Below is the results of some of my artist friends hard work. Below each picture is a link to their portfolio, I urge everyone to take a look at their stuff, and consider them for any illustration needs you might have that fit their style.

Clean lines and a minimalist approach gave my van a very Dystopian authoritativeness. The
work was done by Argentine artist Diego Martinez. Yeah I'm digging it.

Spanish artist Antonio Jesus went the opposite direction by adding a ton
of gritty detail bits. I like how he kept the original design of my van and
kit bashed an outlaw look form hell.

This big bit of awesomeness is from the very talented Hoyt Silva. Hoyt has
a very unique style a little reminiscent Mignola but totally original at the same time. I had to
wait a little longer to get this piece in, but as you can see it was worth the wait. I really
didn't know what to expect when I commissioned these but Hoyt was right on
what I envisioned.

This is... Son of Cult Fiction 3

Thursday, February 23, 2012

Look how awesome this cover is! I know better than anyone you can't judge a book (or CD) by its cover. I have to admit though, I bought this for it's cover.

So cover aside is it any good? Well just about all the "Cult Fiction" series is pretty hit or miss. There might be a couple of good songs and the rest duds, or it could go the other way.

I liked about half the songs on this disc, which for the most parts are theme songs from movies and TV.  It's an eclectic mix to say the least, where else does Urge Overkill share space with the Monkeys?

I'm usually doing good if I can get into at least three songs on any given CD, so this one fairs pretty well and gets my recommendation for a buy, now I have a clean copy of the A-Team theme song to jam out to in my van.
CD Artwork is equally awesome

Recent Photoshop Projects

Monday, February 20, 2012

So I was looking at the logo banner of ElectroSchlock and couldn't believe how boring it was. So after putting it off for a long while I fired up Photoshop and went to work. Crazy thing is I didn't stop there, I put together about 8 different graphics I will be needing in  the future on my other two sites. After that I just kind of screwed around. Pics below.

This is the replacement banner for ES. I was mostly just plying
around with light effects

This is what I started with

Turned it into this, like I said after a
while I was just screwing around

Title: Witch Doctor: Vol.1 Under the Knife
Publisher: Image
Writer: Brandon Seifert
Art: Lukas Ketner
Colors: Sunny Gho

Images 2011 mini-series Witch Doctor is a fun ride meddling Witchcraft and Science. From issue one were introduced to a new mythos were demons are devils are seen as parasites feeding off the world and the human spirit the earths immune system. This device is played out in unique ways, with real life medicine interjected into the macabre.

It's an original idea that is carried out well in it's four issue mini series format. Beautiful artwork by Seifert and color by Gho bring the script to life. This mini series set the platform for the character's in Witch Doctor that went further onto a one shot and second mini series.

The trade version collecting all the issues of volume 1 is available at amazon.com.

Flying Saucers

Monday, January 2, 2012

I'm in love with the UFO phenomena. I don't pretend to know what's really going on up in the heavens, all I know for sure is something is going on. What I love most about the mystery of it all is the pop culture that has grown around it since the fifties.

For years I have been collecting magazines and comics featuring UFO artwork, but mainly Flying Saucers. It all seems a little hokey now, but there was a time when Flying Saucers and UFOs went hand in hand. Below you'll find just a sampling of some of my Flying Saucer art I've collected over the years.
