Bedford Vans

Monday, May 21, 2012

Plymouth Vans, people go crazy over them. They sale for big bucks at auction, in reality they’re just rebadged Dodge vans. I admit I share the same kind of enthusiasm for Bedford Vans, basically rebadged GM vans made in the UK and sold through all of Europe.

Bedford Vans differ from their American brethren with the different grille as well as a unique sliding passenger and driver’s door. It’s really pretty cool little feature and I am surprised I’ve never seen an American custom van fitted in this way.

Bedford Vans also differ from the US counterpart in the way that paneled SUV’s and Wagons were considered part of the van line as well.

Bedford vans came in many different flavors starting with a slant 4 cylinder engine. Think a V6 van is underpowered; try driving a standard size van with a four banger!

Very few have made it to the U.S., the ones that are hear are basically rusted out. With the van scene of the 70’s not really taking off in the U.K. like it did in the U.S. custom rides are few and far between, but a little digging on the web can turn up some spectacular examples.

So What Happen?

The post right below this one talked about what I had planned in the coming week. Well that week came and went and nothing was posted. In fact I'm starting to post more of these "excuse" post than actual content. Well what can I say, but sometimes life's crazy.

I'm, looking into learning a foreign language. It's a big undertaking but I like a challenge and would love to call myself a polyglot. I'm getting ready to run a contest on this blog, I'm still in the planning stages in trying to find the best way to get the word out about it.

As far as the post that were promised, they're coming. Just stay tuned

Post to Come: Bedford Vans, Classic JDM Book Update, and Maggie Cheung!

Sunday, May 13, 2012

So a month goes by, and I don't post anything. Then last week happens and I write 7 new post. I'm trying to keep the pace up, so here's a list of what to expect.

Not a lot is commonly known about Bedford Vans in the US, even among enthusiast.
Will take a close look at these British GM people movers in a detailed Profile.

My post about Classic JDM Books has had a lot of hits but since posting it I have
found many more resources including the English language "BIBLE"  on the subject.
Look for a picture heavy post coming soon.

So Japanese women get a lot of love on this site, but I don't discrihate I love all
Asian women! To prove just that point, we will have a nice profile and selected
Filmography on Hong Kong beauty Maggie Cheung!

If you notice I didn't put any dates on when these will go up, I'm going to try in fit them all in this week, but there's my other two blogs I have to  post on as well so just check back and see.

Found this bit of awesomeness through a friend, can't imagine driving there is looks like controlled chaos

Retro Crush #003: Angie Dickinson

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Name: Angie Dickinson
Date of Birth: September 30, 1931 (age 80)
Home Town: Kulm, North Dakota, United States
Occupations: Actress
Prime Years: 1954–1980

"When I started shooting Police Woman, someone asked me if I had ever  played a sleuth before. I said 'Yes, many times.' I thought they were asking me if I ever played a slut. I didn't know what a sleuth was."

Check out that body! A lot of people say our standard of what is "sexy" has changed over the years from curvaceous to toned. But it's hard argument to make that Angie Dickinson wasn't ahead of her time.

Dickinson has appeared in over 50 movie rolls and numerous TV shows. Although she started her acting career in the late 50's she really wasn't  looked at as a sex symbol until the early 70's. Dickinson aged well and by that time still looked like a knock out.

Her best move has to the Roger Corman directed "Big Bad Mama" (1974). She has three separate nude scenes, one full frontal [!] with Star Trek's William Shatner!

Angie Dickinson appeared on the March 1979 cover of the adult magazine High Society, with the promise of "nude photos inside." There were nude photos but they were just stills from the nudey shots she did for Big Bad Mama.

They don't even have a proper interview, it's just selected quotes from other interviews she has done. Not really worth tracking down unless your a completest.
.
There is an interesting black and white photo floating around which appears to be a very young Dickinson posing totally nude for a frontal shot. This still photograph can be had on ebay for about $10. It really does look like Angie circa late 50's when she was doing beauty pageants. It could be her or some nameless model of  the same period who looked a lot like her.

80 years old now and still not a bad looking great grandma! I would just dust the cobwebs out of the way and dig in!

70's Camper Trucks

Travel Back with me to a place and time when having a camper over your truck bed was cool. Have a look...

T's of my Own Creation

I'm a T-Shirt and jeans guy. I have polo's, sweaters, hoodies, and collared shirts but I feel the most comfortable wearing T's and Jeans. Besides print-less undershirts I don't buy any of my T's at the store. I truly believe T-shirts are a great way of expressing oneself.

For a small time I was into silk screening my own, but the cost and clean-up was a nightmare. Now there's services all over the web offering Direct to Garment Printing. Imagine an inkjet printer that printed on t-shirts instead of paper and you get the idea.

Although there are quite a few out there, in my opinion mysoti.com is the best, and cafepress.com is the worst. Similar sites but a world of differences as far as quality and price go.

My storefront is finally set up so shop away. Your helping a good cause, proceeds go to a starving artist named Chris ;p

Below are a couple of designs I made for this blog and my film site ElectroShclock.com. I have a couple of other designs I'm working on, one for LuridLit so I can have my blog trilogy collection. I'll post that one once it's finished.

Japanese Idol Worship: Natsuko Tohno

Name: Natsuko Tohno
Born: 3/06/77
Blood Type: B
165 cm tall
Bust: 88 cm, Waist: 56 cm, Hips: 85 cm.

My first Japanese Idol post generated quite a few hit's, so I decided to give the readers what they want. Welcome to "Japanese Idol Worship", a new regular feature.

Today's Idol is an old one, old in terms of JAV. Natsuko Tohno is now 34 at the time of this writing, and as far as I can tell she has faded into obscurity after a very brief but successful run as a prime Japanese Adult Video (or JAV) star. Actually very little was known about her while she was in the limelight, so she probably is just a very private person.

Lucky for us she not private enough to hide her body! Below is a small sampling of some of her PG-13 pictures from some of her photo shoots. Enjoy!

SCORE: Vans and Hellcats

The end of last week I bought some stuff online, the first of that stuff came in today. Have a look.

I'm just about ready to start tearing into my van, so what better place to
find inspiration for a custom interior than Van magazines from the
70's? I got these on ebay as usual, they sold for their normal going price
between $ 8- $10. I only buy four of these at a time. I just can't justify
spending $50 on magazines at any given time.

The MPC Sunrunner Model Kit. It's a 1977 Ford just like mine!

Scored this from an amazon.com marketplace
seller for $5, sealed.

Time to Post Something

So it's been quite a while since I've posted anything (yes I know, I suck.) Life has been crazy, my other two blogs are doing well and I've been pretty busy with those. I have to admit though I've been wasting a lot of time on an international pen pal site flirting with girls from South East Asia (yes I know, I'm a bastard.) I'm writing this now to let everyone know I have a couple of good post in the hopper. Post on Cars, Vans, Toys, and Book/CD Reviews are all on the way.

By the way I just noticed I hit a 1,000 page views, hells yes! Thanks for everyone who visit regularly and for those who stumble on here through google. I appreciate you all.

If this is your first time here I urge you to visit the archives, you will find mindless rambling on all sorts of random shit. Stay tuned...
