Time to Post Something

Monday, May 7, 2012

So it's been quite a while since I've posted anything (yes I know, I suck.) Life has been crazy, my other two blogs are doing well and I've been pretty busy with those. I have to admit though I've been wasting a lot of time on an international pen pal site flirting with girls from South East Asia (yes I know, I'm a bastard.) I'm writing this now to let everyone know I have a couple of good post in the hopper. Post on Cars, Vans, Toys, and Book/CD Reviews are all on the way.

By the way I just noticed I hit a 1,000 page views, hells yes! Thanks for everyone who visit regularly and for those who stumble on here through google. I appreciate you all.

If this is your first time here I urge you to visit the archives, you will find mindless rambling on all sorts of random shit. Stay tuned...

SCORE: Japanese Toy Fun

Wednesday, April 4, 2012

Just got a nice sized order of Japanese toys, via a Hong Kong toy store. Don't worry nothing bootleg here.

A very cool detailed Jason Voorhees action figure from Revoltech. Check out the details, looks so good I couldn't bring myself to open it up.

A few post down I ranted a little about Nerd Goddess Ami Tokito. This is a figure of said AV Star in a skimpy bikini that you can change into different outfits. The funny thing is this very juvenile "girlish" toy is targeted towards her adult male fans. What kind of a horny fan boy would buy such a thing....

Super awesome score! It's a big rig that transforms into...

It was magic mail-man day as he brought me three packages I've been waiting for, take a look below to see the score. As always click the image for a bigger picture.

Got s sweet deal on these masked luchadors, these are coming harder to find in Mexico and are usually purchased at the Lucha Libre matches. The huge in toy terms, 18 inches.

El Canik

El Filino

La Parka

Ora

Psicosis
I collect these 6 inch Japanese vinyl figures, they sale in Japan for about $5, but retail in the U.S.
For about $15. I usually pick an arm full up when I go to conventions but found a U.S. Seller
that had a nice selection for a good price.

Not an import, but I got it in today

My Post Apocalyptic Van

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

I love Post Apocalyptic movies, with the Mad Max trilogy being high on the list. One aspect I love about these movies are the funky vehicles the survivors outfit for the wasteland. What started as an art project I got some of my artist friends to help me with rendering my van with women posing with it, took an entirely different direction when one of them sent me a quick sketch of my van Post Apocalyptic style.

Below is the results of some of my artist friends hard work. Below each picture is a link to their portfolio, I urge everyone to take a look at their stuff, and consider them for any illustration needs you might have that fit their style.

To see how the Vans & Girls image turned out, click here.

Clean lines and a minimalist approach gave my van a very Dystopian authoritativeness. The
work was done by Argentine artist Diego Martinez. Yeah I'm digging it.

Spanish artist Antonio Jesus went the opposite direction by adding a ton
of gritty detail bits. I like how he kept the original design of my van and
kit bashed an outlaw look form hell.

This big bit of awesomeness is from the very talented Hoyt Silva. Hoyt has
a very unique style a little reminiscent Mignola but totally original at the same time. I had to
wait a little longer to get this piece in, but as you can see it was worth the wait. I really
didn't know what to expect when I commissioned these but Hoyt was right on
what I envisioned.

Japanese Nerd Lust

Monday, March 19, 2012

Name: Ami Tokito
Birthdate: September 25, 1987
Home: Tokyo
Sizes: 90/58/86 cm

Ami Tokito is a Japanese pop singer and Idol, her claim to fame is her glasses. She's a self proclaimed nerd, participating in Cosplay, and recording the opening theme song for an anime series. She attends manga conventions and likes the comic "Slam Dunk".

That's why she has such a cult following, Japanese Idol Geeks think they can relate to her, or more importantly she can relate to them. Great gimmick but I'm not buying it. Take away the glasses and you'll find a near perfect body of a goddess.

Women this beautiful, living in the spotlight are just not typically geeks. But hey, it works for her and I'm not about to stop looking a pictures of her. In fact here's a few to ogle over.

One Sexy Nerd

The Eagle Has Landed

Saturday, March 10, 2012

I wrote over a month ago about how I bought a 1977 Ford Custom Van in Fort Worth, and was going to have it shipped to where I now live in Mississippi. I was waiting on my tax return to come in before I could get it shipped.

As some of you might have heard the IRS had a major backlog of payments they couldn't send out for whatever bullshit reason. Well last week my deposit finally went through and I made arrangement's to have it shipped.

Exactly one week after I made the call it's now in my driveway. I already showed pictures of the exterior, luckily nothing changed in the move. So I thought I would share some pictures of the swank 70's interior.

SCORE: Jensen JTA 460

Friday, March 9, 2012

So I have a Stanton ST-150 Turn Table, it has a digital output that works great. Only problem is I don't have an audio breakout box I use to have to interface with my computer. So I went online and took a look at my options. Since I already own a $500 turntable I didn't see the need to drop serious coin on this. I read some reviews and found the Jenson JTA 460 to fit the bill

First off it cost just under $90 a big selling point for me, secondly it doesn't actually interface with the computer but rather records your vinyl on the fly to a SD card or USB Stick in MP3 format. It has built in speakers but they will sound like crap to any serious audiophile, good news is it also has phono jacks in the back so you can hook it up to your stereo.

I plugged in a USB Stick and put on some 70's lounge hit the record button. I didn't hear any popping or hiss from the built in speakers, that had to do more with the fact that they're small cheap speakers than noise reduction circuitry.

I then plugged the stick into my computer and dumped the tracks into Adobe Audition. After processing the tracks through some filters I had a listen through my reference monitors

They came out really good. I have to say if anybody is looking for a cheap way to rip their vinyl to mp3 should check this out.

What exactly did I rip? Take a look below, and for those astute
readers who noticed how nice this cover scan came out
yes, I also bought a new scanner.
